Does everyone feel that shampoo makes them look extra beautiful the day they use it? I don’t know about everyone but I definitely look more beautiful the day I use it. It took me years to find the best suited shampoo. Some used to make my hair look dull and dry like jute, where some used to not remove the oil properly I had used before washing the hair. Again, some used to increase my hair fall. After watching a lot of videos and reading articles, I have finally found the tricks to find the perfect match for my hair. Today, I am going to share with you those tricks and tips that will certainly help you to find your best match.
Understand Your Hair Type
There are many types of hair people have. Identifying hair and scalp type is basic before choosing a suitable shampoo.
Dry Hair and Scalp
Common Issues: Flakiness, dryness, split ends, dry white dead skin on scalp
For dry hair, we should look for moisturizing shampoo with these ingredients (coconut or argan or jojoba oil etc, shea butter, essential oils etc.0
Oily Hair and Scalp
Common Issues: Greasiness, lack of volume, frequent need for washing hair, buildup
For oily hair, we should use clarifying shampoo with these ingredients (tea tree oil/salicylic acid.)
Normal Hair and Scalp
Normal hairs usually don’t have many issues. And these lucky people can use gentle shampoo with mild surfactants.
Combination Hair and Scalp
This hair type is the most common yet the most confusing one. People with this type of hair keep thinking about whether to buy a clarifying shampoo or to buy a moisturizing shampoo. I was one of them. My scalp gets super oily after a day I shampoo my hair and my ends get very dry if I shampoo daily. It was devastating at one point! If I had shampooed my hair daily, the oil would have removed but my hair would have dried like dry jutes. On the contrary, if I had not shampooed my hair daily, the oil would have increased so badly that it would have caused hair fall. After finding day and night, I finally found the solution. The solution to this problem is to use moisturizing shampoo one day and clarifying shampoo the other day.
Identify Specific Hair Concerns
Different hair has different concerns to tackle. Identifying a suitable shampoo can be a great help.
Dandruff
Dandruff is a problem we often don’t know how to deal with. Whatever we do, it keeps coming back. But, most of the time we confuse dandruff with dry skin. Whenever we feel itchy, oily scalp and find white oily substance in our fingernails after itching our scalps, that is called dandruff. To remove dandruff, anti-dandruff shampoo (with Zinc,Ketoconazole,Salicylic acid) is a must. As dandruff tends to come back again and again, we should keep using the shampoo at least once or twice a week.
Colored Hair
We love to color our hair but maintaining it, is a tough job. Even the water we use also reacts with the color and makes it fade. To make the color sustain for a longer period of time, a good color protecting shampoo is a must . After washing it, please use a color protecting conditioner to hold the moisture.
Now-a-days, hair losing and hairline receding are becoming a great concern. A well anti hair fall shampoo with one of these elements (biotin, rosemary or peppermint essential oil, minoxidil, caffeine) can reduce the problem. These are scientifically found effective for hair growth and prevent hair fall.
To incorporate a shampoo in our hair care routine, it is important to take a patch test lest we shouldn’t have an allergic reaction. It may take 2 to 3 days to see any reaction from our usage day. Also, please read the label carefully. Above all, you need to maintain a good diet and sleep patterns to get a healthier and shinier hair.
